A feature of visiting Balbirnie is undoubtedly trying our wonderful food and wine, and enjoying our super hospitality. Balbirnie’s kitchens have an emphasis on creating classic dishes which use seasonal produce, using at every opportunity the wonderful natural larder that Scotland provides. Our aim is to provide a choice of dining experiences which will suit whatever the occasion of your visit –  whether a full blown dining experience or simply a one course evening meal after a busy day. Whatever works for you.

We have a choice of three dining options for guests (as well as several private dining rooms):

The Orangery
The Orangery offers classic Scotland on a plate, and has become one of Fife’s most special destination restaurants.  Classic contemporary with service very much relaxed and informal. All dishes priced individually allowing you to choose as you wish.. 

Voted one of Scotland’s five most romantic restaurants by The Scotsman newspaper and awarded Scotland’s Hotel Restaurant of the Year 2008.

The Bistro
Created from the old kitchens of the house, The Bistro offers casual dining, fantastic value, delicious and authentic Bistro cooking.

The Orangery Tasting Room
The Tasting Room is a totally unique private room for up to 6 guests, located directly alongside our main hot kitchen plating area with full length mirror to watch our Chefs at work (one way glass, they can’t see you!).  The Tasting Room can be booked just like a normal restaurant table but certainly offers something a bit different for a night out to remember!  If interested in reserving then please email reservations@balbirnie.co.uk reservations@balbirnie.co.uk

 Other Dining Experiences

• Picnics - should you wish to explore the surrounding countryside, we are delighted to provide a range of picnic hampers to take with you.
• Afternoon Tea - traditional cream tea is available at Balbirnie between 3-5pm daily, priced at £6 per person.  Full afternoon tea also available on request and subject to availability on certain dates at £15.50 per person. Please note that for non-residents, afternoon tea must be reserved in advance of your visit.
• Room service  - is available to hotel residents 24 hours a day
