Balbirnie as a destination can be as active or relaxing as the mood dictates - a leisurely walk in the park, a morning's golf on Balbirnie Park golf course (an undulating par 71 course), an afternoon's riding or just browsing through the shelves of the old library and taking it easy.
Quite apart from Fife being a golfer's paradise, recreational pursuits abound including fishing, clay pigeon shooting, falconry, water sports and off-road driving - to name but a few. For the less energetic, how about croquet on the lawn? In a broader context, Fife's winding coast and rolling countryside have much of beauty and of historic interest to explore - quaint fishing villages, stately homes, castles and gardens.
For those of our guests who prefer to stay within the perimeter of the estate during their stay, many pursuits are available. Doorstep golf on the challenging course, jogging trails, woodland walking and for those interested in nature there are, in addition to the many historical aspects such as stone circles and stob crosses, many fine items of interest.
The park is home to an abundance of wildlife (including a family of deer if you are lucky enough to see them). Also within the park is Balbirnie craft centre, selling handcrafted jewellery, pottery, leather work, metal work and paintings.
