Balbirnie Park golf course itself is a challenging and beautifully landscaped 18 hole 6210 yards par 71 parkland course. The course presents a fair test and a degree of accuracy is certainly required. Views from the course extend over flowing hillock lines and tree groupings on a grand scale to create vistas with contrasting enclosure, presenting a "natural" landscape effect. the names of individual holes give historical reference, for example, the 8th "Target Park" where in the old says archery was practised and the 11th "Balfarg" which relates to the nearby historic stone circle. From the 14th "Viewforth", the Firth of Forth can be seen on a clear day. Golfing at Balbirnie is a real pleasure.
Many famous championship courses are easily accessible within thirty minutes drive of Balbirnie, including "the home of golf" - St. Andrews, and also Ladybank, Leven Links, Lundin Links, Crail and Elie to name but a few. Some forty-five minutes away are Kingsbarns (the exceptional new links course which opened last summer), Gleneagles, and Carnoustie which is possibly the hardest test of all. So whatever your requirements, there will most certainly be something to suit.
For practise sessions, there are a number of driving ranges close by to the hotel and golf tuition can be arranged at Balbirnie Park course for those wishing to brush up their skills.
