I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you and your team for what was such a wonderful day on 10th March – everything ran like clockwork on the day, I didn’t have to worry about a single thing and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Many of our guests have been writing and phoning to tell us what a wonderful wedding it was and just how fantastic Balbirnie was as a venue! We are so delighted that we chose it as our venue.

Firstly I must apologise for not emailing you sooner (I got so carried away telling everyone when I got home how nice it was). I wanted to thank you for arranging our complimentary cocktails on our arrival, and what a nice start to a lovely meal. To mention some of the food, the home smoked roast salmon was perfect, sorbet of passion fruit (with maybe lime) was amazing and only 2 out of 4 of us could manage dessert which was the iced Cranach an parfait - the most wonderful raspberry experience!! The service was impeccable. My aunt had a very lovely birthday and we all had a great time. So many thanks again, and hopefully it won't be another year before we visit again.

Just a brief email to say thanks, and to let you know how much all of my party enjoyed ourselves at Hogmanay at Balbirnie. We had a truly memorable evening. Highlights ... The long gallery is a great place to start, and the canapes were delicious. Everyone commented on how stunning the ballroom looked, especially the lighting and sparkly dance floor. The food was good, but in particular the steaks were superb. I struggle to cook one fillet that well, let alone hundreds of them! And lastly the band were excellent, just the right tempo and mix of pop classics with just enough ceilidh music too. We all danced ourselves silly and had a ball, literally! Please pass on our thanks to all who worked so hard to make it a great evening.

Last Saturday 12 January three of my family, including myself, were guests at the wedding in Balbirnie House of David and Liane Smith. The place itself is a gem. Each room we went into was jaw-droppingly more beautiful than the last. Your staff are warm and efficient. The pre-dinner drinks and canapes just right, and the wedding dinner food and wine perfect - as was the band. The weather wasn't too kind to start with but improved as the day went on and we got some good outside photographs. I wanted to say thank you, but I don’t know where to begin. During the planning process and on the day itself, you, Kirsty, Meghan and all of the staff members at Balbirnie have been absolutely fantastic.
As you know when you have worked in Hospitality for a number of years especially operationally during weddings, it is really hard to relax and not constantly look at your watch and check out what the staff members are doing. I can genuinely say that at no point was this the case, we had complete faith in your team and the delivery on the day was above and beyond our expectations. The team service during the meal was unexpected and very impressive and all of the waiters/waitress were very pleasant and professional. We received many comments about the high quality of food, so please pass that on to your chef.
Grant was extremely informative and approachable on the morning of the wedding, which helped calm any nerves I had. Considering you had 6 weddings and a funeral that week, this was not evident and the enthusiasm from all members of staff seemed as high as ever. From arriving with all of the boxes on the Friday, to leaving on the Sunday morning, we were treated superbly by all members of the team. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch his name, but the person who helped me and the girls unload the car on the Friday was absolutely fantastic and made a real impact on us. He had a laugh and a joke with us whilst doing all of the lifting and nothing was too much trouble for him – a real credit.
I am getting emotional writing this, so feel I had better finish!
Thank you will never be enough. I never thought I would be able to say that our wedding day was ‘perfect’, but it really was in every way. You even ordered sunshine for us!
We will recommend Balbirnie to all of our friends and family – some of whom are already planning their next visit.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for doing such a fantastic job of helping me plan our big day. You’re efficiency, patience and attention to detail was quite remarkable and something that I continually appreciated. I really wanted to enjoy the planning process and you and the girls enabled me to do that as you were always so helpful and accommodating.
When we started the planning for the wedding I had such a clear idea of what I wanted it to be like and it was amazing to see it all come together in the lead up to and during the wedding itself, so thank you for helping to make my dreams a reality. Everything about our day was perfect and many of our guests said that it truly was the best wedding they had ever been to (and some of them were married!!).
We absolutely couldn’t have asked for a more stunning venue than Balbirnie House and the warm, friendly and efficient staff were the icing on the cake. I can’t believe it’s all over now but we will cherish the memories forever and know that if we could do it again, we wouldn’t change a single thing.

Mum and Dad, and the entire party, had a really special time at Balbirnie yesterday. Everything ran so smoothly and apparently effortlessly. The Orangery was a light and elegant setting for a luncheon party ( I have never been in it for a single party event) and was just perfect.
As you may have heard from the washing up team, the food was consumed enthusiastically and the amuse bouche was an unexpected treat. My sister was particularly pleased and impressed with the chef who tweaked the vegetables for her gang.
Please pass on our thanks to all involved – the team who looke after us on the day were flawless (my daughter Beatrice was moved to take a photo of them!).

Particular thanks to the Party Chef who assembled the wedding cake, I’d had nightmares about trying to do that. He made a great job of it!
A big thank you to Chef/s who prepared the meal, it was delicious and received accolades from everyone there. I’d love to know how the lamb was prepared to perfection for so many people. I wanted to write, to express my thanks to all the wonderful staff who made my evening last night (Saturday 28th April) perfect. My husband & I arrived at the hotel with our two friends, we were greeted by a lovely wee lass who was polite, friendly & helpful and has such a lovely warm smile. We were dining in the Orangery & all the staff were simply outstanding. They were all warm and friendly and they made us feel so special. The hotel was beautiful and very clean – so a very well done to the housekeepers. The food was amazing & it would be very handy if the chefs could come and stay in my kitchen!!
We had such a lovely time and all the little touches just made our evening perfect. We felt as though we were dining aboard the Titanic – but without the drama.
You should be very proud of your staff, not only in the Orangery but also in the Bistro. When we dined there the other week, the staff were run off their feet, but throughout they were lovely to us and the food was excellent too and the restaurant was spotless.

The wedding meal was very slick, with pleasant efficient service and any requests met quickly - I personally loved the apple pie best - lovely melt in the mouth pastry, and lots of cinnamon apples - good choice Gary and Debbie. I just thought that I would drop you an e-mail to thank you and all the staff for a wonderful day. The day went very smoothly all the guests had a wonderful time. Please pass on to the chef that everybody thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and my nephew (who is a chef) was impressed by the meal too. I will have no hestiation in recommending Balbirnie House if anyone asks. It was lovely that the guests were able to sit in your beautiful gardens whilst the photographer did his bit, the weather helped here of course, but I'm sure that it would have been equally relaxed had we been inside.

Hi Rosemary, I can't thank you and your staff enough. The evening was fantastic. The function room looked lovely that morning when we first came to visit, but when we stepped in on Saturday night I was speechless, it was out of this world. The staff were very attentive and service, and attention to detail was perfection. My mother and father-in-law are still talking about it and the people who stayed in the hotel had a fantastic time ( I have told Neil that I'm staying the next time!) Dear Rosemary, A belated, but nevertheless sincere, note to thank you and all your colleagues so much for making Hogmanay and my 50th birthday celebrations so perfect. It was not our first time at Balbirnie but it was the first time for the rest of my party. You now have 10 more converts to the magic of your hotel!! All the arrangements were fantastic and my birthday dinner on 1st January was truly wonderful. Many, many thanks again for all your help and hard work to make the event so special. Hi, just wanted to say how much my husband and I enjoyed our dinner last night. We were pleased to see that although the restaurant was busy people were spaced out in the dining room so that they did not have diners sitting to closely to other people until we were almost finished their meal. The food was very nice and it is good that you can buy side orders as my husband particularly enjoyed his side order of chips with his lamb as he felt that if he had not ordered them the dish itself would not have been enough for him. My chicken dish was very filling and the Baileys sweet was delicious. We always find Sam to be very friendly and she always makes us feel very welcome. Thank you once again.

Our wedding was such a special day and a huge part of this was down to the hard work and dedication of Balbirnie House and its entire staff. Everything went like clockwork and there must have been an army of staff involved to make everything appear so effortless. Our wedding breakfast was delicious and far surpassed our expectations which were high in any event! And we will never forget the spontaneous “oooooh!” from our guests when the LED dance floor was switched on! Amazing! Dear Rosemary, I’d like to thank you and all of the staff at Balbirnie House Hotel for a superb evening on Saturday. Everything was absolutely perfect and so efficiently organised. As ever, the setting was just ideal for such an occasion and the service was extremely attentive without ever being intrusive. The food was outstanding, a testament to the quality of the chef and his kitchen. Our guests are widely travelled and no strangers to fine dining; nevertheless, they were thoroughly impressed with the standards they experienced on Saturday.
I certainly won’t hesitate to use Balbirnie again for any similar event or to recommend it to friends and colleagues. Many thanks to all for helping create a wonderful and memorable experience on this special occasion.

I just wanted to say a really big thank you for all your organisation for the wedding - everything went really smoothly and we had a really, really amazing day. I loved every second of it although it just flew by like everyone told me it would! Can you please pass on my thanks and regards to Tracey, who was a star on the day and helped everything go exactly to plan. We also loved the blue fairy lights around the pillars in the ballroom, so thanks for putting those up! Valerie Lang- This is just a short note to thank you so much for making our stay at the hotel on 23rd December such a wonderful occasion. Despite having been told that there would only be standard rooms available for that night, we were clearly treated to two beautiful deluxe rooms. The staff were by far the most charming and helpful people we had ever encountered at a Scottish hotel including the staff in at least two of the top-class hotels listed in the brochure that we leafed through in our room at the Balbirnie. The cuisine was simply outstanding and even the thick snow outside contributed to the enchantment, giving the grounds a fairytale aspect, which also made our stay at Balbirnie particularly memorable. It was a very relaxing pre-Christmas treat for us all. Thank you. May I wish you the best of luck for 2010’.

I'm sure you realised before the wedding that Matt and I were never really all that bothered about the ceremony and we really just wanted a party, well, oddly enough, the ceremony and the setting was our favourite part of the day. Phyllis the toast master was absolutley amazing. She let us know that she was there if we needed her and kept everything running so smoothly we rarely even noticed she was there. Obviously, the snow added to an amazing setting but the Long Hall looked better than we both had imagined. The atmosphere at Balbirnie was so relaxing. The staff on the day were all brilliant. They had a laugh with us but remained professional. The food was fantastic and everyone has had nothing but good things to say about it. I actually don't think I can think of one thing that Balbirnie did for the day that we didn't love... Thanks again for everything you did for us and creating such a perfect day...’
