The delightful ambience of the old house, Grade A listed circa 1777, combines with our more recently created Ballroom to provide a fabulous venue which can accommodate gatherings of any size from 70-216.

Balbirnie is, as a destination, a splendid backdrop which wedding photographers dream about. The house plays host to special events in all shapes and sizes but with one thing in common – a tradition of personal service. Each and every wedding is quite individual and as such we discuss every wedding on a one to one basis with respective Balbirnie brides, grooms and parents.  Our Wedding Co-Ordinators will tailor your day to your own requirements with you, offering every assistance with planning the fundamental timings and details of the day.

In terms of wedding venues, you may wonder why Balbirnie stands out from the crowd. Here are the answers to the 5 most significant matters brides and grooms ask us about when they initially come to view Balbirnie:

1. Awards. We are humbled by the many wedding related awards which we have received over the last few years, as no hotel (or indeed wedding venue) in Scotland can in this context come close. These accumulated awards have been achieved via brides have already had their weddings at Balbirnie voting for us in various publications – surely a great reassurance to our future brides!

2. One a day: We will only every host one wedding per day, ensuring that your special day is unique and personal to you.

3. No facility fee: Balbirnie is a Grade A listed historic mansion. Believe it or not, some of our nearest comparable venues will charge you £5/£6,000.00 in “hire charges” before you have even started planning what to offer your guests! We don’t work like that – we provide excellent value for money and so long as you have our stated minimum numbers attending, there are no hire charges. The only occasion we levy a hire charge is when you decide to have your actual ceremony in-house.

4. Everything under one roof: We are able to provide everything you will need in-house – fantastic food, wine and accommodation. You don’t need to worry about selecting external caterers, marquees etc. and co-ordinating everything yourself because we can do this for you.  All these aspects of planning your wedding will come together at Balbirnie with the assistance of one of our Wedding Co-Ordinators, to create a simply marvellous day for all concerned.

5. A venue can have the most wonderful surroundings and ambience, food and wine to match and great value. We have all these, but one thing that matters over and above everything is “the people” aspect. You may rest assured that you are in safe hands at Balbirnie, and that will receive a very personal service from our staff throughout the lead up and planning of your wedding and of course on the big day itself.

YOUR INITIAL SHOWROUND AT BALBIRNIE

• A member of our management team is available to assist you in considering the initial planning stages of your special day. However, we would appreciate it very much if you would telephone for an appointment before visiting for a showround.  This would enable us to devote our full attention to your arrangements and would also avoid inconvenience to yourself should you come when we are already engaged in other business.

• Please be advised that we never provide client showrounds when an actual wedding reception is taking place at Balbirnie.

• Appointments can usually be scheduled within one month (weekday and weekend appointments available) . We will have set aside an hour or so to discuss your wedding and to show you around the building.

• Please do let us know if you would like us to reserve a table for lunch or dinner following your showround of the House.
